Embroidered text on the wall hanging: ”Gån med och skåden landen, där kyrkorna på stranden stå glimmande som liljan uti sin vita prakt” — ”Go forth and behold the lands, where the churches on the shore stand gleaming like the lily in its white splendour.” The verse comes from Erik Axel Karlfeldt’s poem ”Dalmarsch” (Fridolin’s Songs, 1898), a tribute to the lakes, whitewashed churches and church-boat processions of Dalarna. A hand-embroidered Swedish wall hanging on pale linen in an unusually long, narrow format, made to hang above a door or a sofa. At the centre a white church with a shingled tower rises on an island of red cottages, green trees and rolling fields; a long church boat full of rowers glides across the still water, and to the right two birches in free embroidery bend over a wooden fence. The verse is worked in dark blue thread in a free, handwritten script, divided into two panels by winding blue borders. The reverse is shown in the photographs: the work is entirely hand-stitched, with no machine seams. Era: early to mid 20th century. Dimensions: 32 x 101 cm. Material: Linen with cotton and wool embroidery, hand-stitched. Condition: Good — softly patinated linen, storage creases, see photos. Unique — 1 of 1. Hand-embroidered and hung in a Swedish home; no copy exists.

Sold as seen · Antique textiles

Every BONAD is a unique antique or vintage Swedish textile that has lived in a real home. Age is part of the object: you may find small stains, fading, light wear, loose threads, scuffs or other marks that are not defects, but evidence of its history.

Because these textiles are one-of-a-kind, fragile and irreplaceable, we sell every piece exactly as seen and described, and we do not offer exchanges or replacements — there is no second, identical piece.

To purchase or ask questions about a piece, send an email to hello@bonad.store. We will confirm availability, condition and shipping details, and provide payment instructions once you are ready.

Consumers resident in the European Union (including Germany) have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days from the day the parcel is received. To withdraw, write to hello@bonad.store within that period. The textile must be returned unused, in the same condition, packed flat and protected as it was sent. Return shipping and any customs charges are paid by the buyer, and the buyer carries the risk of loss or damage in transit; we recommend fully insured, tracked shipping. Once the piece has arrived and been inspected, we refund the purchase price within 14 days.

For buyers outside the European Union, all sales are final: a second round of international shipping would expose an irreplaceable textile to further damage, loss or substitution.

Cleaning and care are the buyer's responsibility. Most of these works are linen, wool, cotton or painted paper of considerable age. If cleaning is needed, we recommend a professional conservator or dry cleaner experienced with antique materials. Do not wash or machine-clean a bonad at home.
